Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2025, day 13: Changes Bristol
Changes Bristol is a mental health charity, committed to providing support to anyone aged over 18 facing mental distress.
Through their weekly support meetings, befriending service, volunteering opportunities and bespoke training, Changes hopes to be recognised as an “accessible and effective” mental health service.
The charity’s services stretch far beyond Bristol, including North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset.

Founded in 2003 by Richard Pearce, the charity was a collaborative effort between people with lived experiences of mental health challenges to create a channel of support that they never found.
In 2019, the charity won the GHP Social Care’s Best Mental Health Peer Support and Best Mental Health Awareness Workshops awards.
Within the charity, there are different support groups for different people. These include their men’s group, women’s group, LGBTQIA+ group and their women of colour group.
An unnamed member of the charity said: “Changes has helped me find inner peace as well as communicating with people who have shared lived experience.”
