Lovett Pies to leave Wapping Wharf

By Martin Booth  Thursday Sep 13, 2018

They were one of the original businesses at Wapping Wharf, whose success was built on the back of selling their wares at market stalls.

But Lovett Pies have now revealed that Friday will be the last day of trading at their unit in Cargo 1.

The team made the announcement on Instagram, saying that their decision was down to a “change of business direction”, with the aim to now concentrate on their wholesale business.

“We’d like to thank everybody who has supported our little shop over the pat two years,” the statement said. “It’s been a real pleasure feeding you.”

The news was greeted with dismay by many of their customers.

“ahhh sad news X X X thank YOU for feeding us,” wrote dakotaraedust.

Wapping Wharf neighbours Meat Box added: “Good luck with the next adventure guys.”

Lovett Pies were among the first businesses to open in Cargo 1

Lovett Pies became the first food business to open in Cargo in October 2016, and will become the third Cargo business to close, joining Big Juice and Spuntino.

On the first floor of Cargo 1 above Lovett Pies, Chicken Shed was transformed into Root under the same owners.

The news of Lovett Pies’ closure comes as work continues apace on the £43m second phase of new homes at Wapping Wharf, which will see more than 250 new flats and four new retail units created.
