Bristol Old Vic’s open casting call for major new production
The team at Bristol Old Vic are looking for a young person to star in the title role of a world premiere that is the flagship production of the theatre’s 260th anniversary year.
The stage adaptation of Max Porter’s novel Lanny has been adapted by Bea Roberts and will be directed by Bristol Old Vic artistic director Nancy Medina.
Lanny is described as “a dark, powerful and imaginative story exploring folklore, fable and the nature of belonging”.
The open casting call is for two young performers to share the role over the four-week run from October 16 to November 7, with the casting team looking for people “with strong natural acting instincts, excellent focus and a lively imagination”.
Medina said: “We wanted to open up this opportunity to local young people, especially those who may not have considered performing before.
“We know there is incredible talent, imagination and creativity in our communities and this is one way of discovering it, plus it supports our objective of getting more regional representation on our stages.
“We’re looking for someone who is curious, expressive and confident in being themselves.
“Previous experience is not essential. I’m much more interested in finding a young person with a vivid imagination and a unique voice who can bring Lanny to life on stage for the very first time.”
