Cyclists ride through Bristol in support of Palestine
There was solidarity, singing and cycling as around 100 riders took part in a protest ride for Palestine in Bristol on Saturday.
Setting off from the bandstand of Castle Park just after 10am, the cyclists were taking part the Big Ride for Palestine which is a national initiative with similar events taking place throughout the summer in cities including Cardiff, London and Manchester.
Palestinian flags billowed in the breeze behind the protesters who were embarking on a 30-mile journey around Bristol.
is needed now More than ever
Since the first Big Ride for Palestine was held in 2015, the event has raised more than £900,000 for the Middle East Children’s Alliance and the Gaza Sunbirds, Palestine’s first professional para-cycling team.
Organisers wrote: “The Big Ride for Palestine is an initiative by supporters of the Palestinian people that combines a love of cycling with practical solidarity and awareness raising.
“We want to bring attention to the human rights abuses endured by the Palestinian people, the brutal military occupation of Gaza and the West Bank (including East Jerusalem), and Israel’s continued violation of international law.”
