New theatre-going group for ‘not really theatre people’
What Was That About? is a new theatre-going group for “not really theatre people”.
The organisers of the new project are inviting six Bristol residents to see a handful of shows, share what they think and even try a bit of writing; with no experience required.
Participants will receive tickets to three performances at Bristol Old Vic, alongside three informal workshops led by writers to chat, reflect and write about what they have seen.
“Whether you think theatre isn’t your thing, find it too expensive or just never got around to going, this is a chance to give it a try in a friendly, welcoming setting,” says project lead Sarah Warden, a Bristol-based producer and writer.
“We want to make space for people who don’t see themselves as ‘theatre people’ – those who might go to gigs, films or comedy but haven’t yet found a way in to live performance.
“It’s about curiosity, connection and trying something new.”
Applications are open until January 5. For more information and to apply, visit app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/bathspa/writers-group-eoi
