New release: Krooked Tongue drop long-awaited debut album
A record that has been seven years in the making, it is unsurprising that alt-rock trio Krooked Tongue say of their debut I Know A Place: “It almost feels as though it’s always been. That this collection of songs have been rattling around in people’s heads for eternity”.
Despite its lengthy production the album, released on limited edition vinyl as well as to platforms on Friday, April 24, feels current with its nod to topical issues and desire to provide respite from increasing daily struggles.
EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.View this post on Instagram
“I Know A Place is a reference to the conflict and the game of chess played by authoritarian figures throughout history time and time again,” explains vocalist Oli Rainsford.
“We live in turbulent times where people will too gladly pin their politics to the mast and let human connection fall by the wayside. We are only to blame for our failure to connect, falling into the abyssal trenches of division.
“Despite the commentary on the state of society, as a band we aim to allow the listener to find escapism from reality. An umbrella to the acid rain, where underneath sits two deck chairs and a cooler full of beers. The overall feeling of this album is one of love.”
The trio formed at university and developed their driving, at times emotional, melodic rock sound over the years that followed, releasing EPs in 2022 and 2023 with the help of producer Josh Gallop of Phoxjaw and Mother Vulture who also recorded the full length album.
As well as touring nationally, they have appeared at Icebreaker, Dot to Dot and Talinn Music Week in Estonia, and this year travelled to New York to perform at the New Colossus Festival where fellow Bristol artists Adult Leisure also appeared.
Their single Nothing Ever Grows was used throughout the Bivol vs Beterbiev boxing fight on DAZN Sports and songs Let ‘Em Loose and Blood Shark were used to soundtrack Progress Wrestling’s live shows at London’s Electric Ballroom.
