Bristol Bad Film Club: Surfer – Teen Confronts Fear
Bizarro Christian surfer flick that's been compared to The Room
Those awards season releases keep on coming. This week’s biggie is Mary Queen of Scots (go here for our review). Alternative choices include true-life addiction flick Beautiful Boy (go here for our review) and Black Lives Matter drama Monsters and Men (go here for our review).
If you’ve had your fill of worthy, gong-craving movies, M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass – a sequel to both Split and Unbreakable – promises to offer some light relief.
There are also plenty of larfs to be had this week. It’s the big Slapstick weekend at the Bristol Old Vic, with screenings continuing at the Watershed. Over at the Arnolfini, Come the Revolution’s No B/S season of black comedy classics brings buddy movies Bad Boys and Stir Crazy, with Girls Trip and Jumpin’ Jack Flash offering a relief from all that testosterone.
Oh, and our chums at the Bristol Bad Film Club are back with their first steaming pile of shite for 2019: the extraordinary mystical Christian surfer flick Surfer – Teen Confronts Fear. Some are hailing this one as the new The Room. Yes – it’s that terrible!
