Remember The Intouchables? This thuddingly unsubtle, sentimental, patronising and politically timid 2011 French true-life ‘uplifting comedy’ about the odd couple friendship between a paraplegic Parisian millionaire and a blunt and vulgar ex-con hired to be his carer was an acquired taste that an awful lot of people acquired, becoming a massive global hit.
Now, eight years later, here’s the long-gestating, wholly unnecessary US remake. Divergent series director Neil Burger is at the helm, with Bryan Cranston cast as the upgraded billionaire and Kevin Hart doing the streetwise crim shtick.
