Bumblebee
The sixth film in the loud and empty Transformers franchise - a prequel to the first one
Having been previewed over Christmas, Bumblebee and Holmes & Watson both open this week. If your tastes are rather more upmarket, the awards season avalanche begins on New Year’s Day with previews of Welcome to Marwen and aptly titled early Oscar favourite The Favourite.
Anyone in dire need of a hearty belly laugh after those family festivities will be delighted to find that there are several comedy classics to choose from. Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Some Like It Hot return to the big screen in the BFI’s Comedy Genius season, while the Cinema De Lux is screening a couple of Laurel & Hardy classics to whet appetites for the upcoming Stan & Ollie.
