JP Delaney’s The Girl Before begins filming in Bristol

By Safiya Bashir  Monday May 17, 2021

Filming for BBC One’s new psychological thriller The Girl Before has begun filming in Redland.

The limited four-part series is adapted from JP Delaney’s novel, where filming was taking place on Woodland Terrace off Hampton Road.

The thriller series, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Golden Globe and Bafta-nominee David Oyelowo, is centred around Jane (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who moves into a minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect (David Oyelowo). However, there is a catch. The occupants have to abide by his list of very specific rules.

Compared to the usual view, the set has definitely added an interesting and exciting backdrop for this new psychological thriller.

Commenting on the series, David Oyelowo says: “This story is mind-bending in its clever construction and intricacy. I can’t wait to see it, let alone be in it. Plus, I’d go anywhere to work with my friend Gugu again.”

The Girl Before will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
