Candyman
Sequel to the 1992 horror classic with a makeover in the racial politics department
The ‘spiritual sequel’ to Candyman is this week’s big release, showing at all mainstream cinemas and the Watershed. The latter also has a Why Black Horror Matters Now illustrated talk by Adam Murray of the Bristol Black Horror Club on September 5.
Also at the Watershed is a special screening of Misha and the Wolves with a director Q&A. It’s a timely event given that the very concept of truth is currently under attack from all sides.
The Everyman’s Music Film Festival rocks along with a couple more films – the pick being The Beatles and India, which explores the Fabs’ experiences with Sexy Sadie.
Elsewhere, nostalgics will be overjoyed to find that the 4K remaster of Top Gun is back in the multiplexes.
