The great, absurdly prolific Nicolas Cage returns as Robin, a dishevelled fella living in the Oregon wilderness with his porker. He ekes a modest living by selling the truffles his porcine pal snuffles out. But then someone nicks the pig, sending our hero on an odyssey to get it back.

It sounds like a great set-up for a novel twist on the vengeance thriller, but anyone expecting our hero to unleash the patented Cage Rage is likely to be disappointed as Michael Sarnoski‘s drama is a more gentle, mournful film than Nic’s more OTT thrillers. It also picked up some great reviews. “As a descent into the apparently high-stakes world of truffle-pig-poaching, Pig is unexpectedly touching,” reckoned Variety. “As a showcase for Cage’s brilliance, it’s a revelation.”
