The Croods 2: A New Age

Director
Joel Crawford
Certificate
U
Running Time
96 mins

This very belated sequel to the 2013 computer caveman road trip comedy has Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone and Ryan Reynolds reprising their roles as the vocies of Crood clan Grug, Eep, and Guy. This time they’re joined by Leslie Mann, Kat Dennings and Peter Dinklage as the rival, technologically advanced and somewhat snooty Betterman tribe.

Fascinating trivia fact: The Croods was originally an Aardman project entitled Crood Awakening, co-written by John Cleese, which was to have been the studio’s follow-up to Flushed Away. But as part of Aardman’s very public divorce from DreamWorks, the rights reverted to the Americans. Many years later, of course, Aadman had its own caveman romp in the form of Nick Park’s Early Man.
