Inspired by Ajoy Bose‘s book Across The Universe – The Beatles In India, this new documentary explores that period in the Fabs’ lives when they forsook – with varying degrees of enthusiasm – western materialism in pursuit of enlightenment at a remote Himalayan ashram with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (later immortalised in song as Sexy Sadie), in the company of Mia Farrow, Beach Boy Mike Love and Donovan.
“Rare archival footage, recordings and photographs, eye-witness accounts and expert comments,” are promised. There’s an accompnying soundtrack album, from which the above track is taken.
