Moonbound

Director
Ali Samadi Ahadi
Certificate
PG
Running Time
85 mins

When young Peter’s sister Anne is kidnapped by the dastardly Moon Man, he must travel into space to rescue her.

Pitched at younger kids, this German-Austrian animation is actually adapted from a 1915 German children’s book entitled Little Peter’s Journey To The Moon. It all seems very familar, with lots of bits recycled from other children’s stories, but will be enjoyed by smaller, less critical cinemagoers. Amusing footnote: in the book the Moon Man is an evil cannibal. That detail seems to have been lost in the transition to the screen.
