Not to be confused with umpteen other films of the same title (interestingly, this one was originally titled Ironbark), On Chesil Beach director Dominic Cooke’s second feature is a by-the-book, Bridge of Spies-esque Cold War drama based on the true story of ‘accidental spy’ Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch).

It’s the early ’60s and MI6 and the CIA are eager for intel on what the dastardly Russkies are up to as the Cuban missile crisis looms. But having found a leaker, they need to recruit someone who’s so dull and boring that he won’t arouse suspicion while smuggling these secrets out of the country.
