Southmead-born character comic Jody Kamali brings his own story to life on stage
Born and raised in Southmead to a Bristolian working-class mother and a traditional Iranian father, Jody Kamali is a high energy, physical character comedian, actor and writer.
He is best known for his alter ego, Terry The Odd Job Man – who has been starring in his own youtube shorts since 2007 and has become a local celebrity.
But after 10 far-reaching, often clowny and experimental solo shows – including 2022’s Ironing Board Man, which incorporated eight ironing boards in a Hollywood-style romance – Kamali has decided to focus his attention a bit closer to home.
is needed now More than ever
Fresh from a successful Edinburgh Fringe run, he is now on tour with Things We Do for Love, a show in which he employs his unique skillset to bring to life a diverse cast of characters from his own upbringing.
He paints a warm, vivid and uproarious picture of a childhood often characterised by cultural collision.
“Expect candid storytelling and elaborate enactments of working-class Bristol life,” he says.
“It’s physical and energetic, full of goodwill and a sweet yarn of an origin story.”
Jody Kamali: Things We Do for Love is at The Alma Tavern & Theatre on November 30 at 8pm. Tickets are available at www.chucklebusters.com.
