Chuckle Busters presents eight-week season of Edinburgh Festival previews
Reprising their annual season of Edinburgh Fringe previews, Chuckle Busters have announced an eight-week programme of double-header comedy nights on selected Sundays and Mondays at The Wardrobe Theatre from June 7.
Not only does it represent a great value evening out, but it’s an opportunity for audiences to see standup hours relatively early in their life cycle – before many of them morph into UK tour shows in the autumn.
First up will be the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner Ahir Shah, and the spoken word/standup-straddling Rob Auton.
French comic Celya AB brings her new show about “breaking free from shame” to the stage the following weekend, after which Amy Annette’s latest offering will explore “being hot (or not)”.

Next, the gloriously offbeat Spencer Jones will perform his new show, which is largely about dogs – although he assures us, “if you hate dogs, or you are scared of them, you will still like this”.
He is joined on the night by self-proclaimed “basically award-winning comic” Nate Kitch with his third solo hour, a show about repeating yourself, as well as “a Peter Pan bit, loops, a lid, and something about the Premier Inn”.

On June 22, another former Edinburgh Comedy Award winner, Joseph Morpurgo, will be flanked by magician Andrew Frost – whose skills are hailed by Derren Brown, David Blaine and Nick Mohammed.
Much vaunted Katie Norris and deadpan musical comic Huge Davies will take the final Sunday in June, followed the next evening by a double bill from Taskmaster’s Sophie Duker, and SNL UK writer Bella Hull.

In July, one evening will be split between acclaimed standup and author Pierre Novellie and absurdist Kate Dolan, who will be fresh from appearing at Replay Festival in Melbourne; another will feature character comedy from Jonathan Oldfield and a new “comedy-horror-revenge-slasher-spooktacular” from Andrew Doherty.
Finally, Bristol favourite Harriet Dyer will be wrapping up the season on August 2, together with a work-in-progress hour from Joe Sutherland, who first made waves at the Edinburgh Fringe back in 2018.
