Bring your own Belly Laughs

By Sarski Anderson  Friday Jan 7, 2022

As Bristol’s best food venues get set to play host to some unique food and comedy experiences for Belly Laughs 2022, the event’s founder, Mark Olver, is always thinking of extra flourishes to this year’s programme. As ever, Belly Laughs is raising funds for Bristol charities as well as putting thousands of pounds back into the local food and drink economy at a trying time.

Throughout the rest of January there will be comedy popping up all around the city, from Kask, Caper and Cure, and The Elephant House to Longwell Records, Seven Lucky Gods, The Cider Box and new addition, prohibition bar The Milk Thistle. Patrons are advised to keep checking the latest information via Yuup for last minute extra experiences.

For those inspired to try standup for themselves, Olver is hosting a free comedy workshop on January 10, at Filwood Community Centre. The event is aiming to reach people who are under represented in the comedy industry.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

“I’d love to find some Knowle Westers, but also people in Hartcliffe, Whitchurch, Hengrove, and even Bedminster people if they promise to climb those steps,” says Olver.

“It’s not just for young people, it is for ANYONE who loves comedy, or doesn’t love comedy but wants to try it, or doesn’t even want to try it, maybe they just want to gossip.

“Teachers, parents, carers, key workers, social workers, aunties, uncles, youth workers, parole officers, support workers, managers of shops and cafes who have particularly chatty/annoying staff – if you are one of these people or know one of these people then shove this under their noses!”

To sign up, email [email protected] as soon as possible, while space permits. All Belly Laughs event information and individual ticket links can be found at Yuup.
