Greengrocers opens on St Nicholas Street
The latest addition to the thriving St Nicholas Street in Bristol’s Old City is a greengrocers.
Behind a trendy coffee shop-style window, Plenty stocks your basic everyday items – fresh bread, eggs, milk, teas, preserves and more.
“Plenty is about providing for people’s needs,” says owner Lucy Wishart.
“There has been a huge response so far. St Nick’s is the foodie centre of Bristol so it’s really great to be part of it.
All the fruit and veg at Plenty is organic and Soil Association certified, and as much as possible is sourced from local suppliers.
On the shelves you find Local Somerset milk, Gingerbeards Preserves, as well as freshly made doughnuts from the Big O Donut Co. which is run by Lucy’s wife, Nancy Wishart, who was preparing some Henny & Joe’s Chai flavoured doughnuts as we arrived.
“We’re interested in stocking as many local producers as possible, so anyone is welcome to come and show us their product,” Lucy adds.
Lucy has her sights set on big things for the Plenty brand, with plans including a Plenty butchers in Redfield and more Plenty grocery stores across Bristol.
“Obviously I eat food every day,” says the 36-year-old entrepreneur. “I’m just fascinated by food, and I’m creative, so I wanted to do something that combined those two interests.”
It’s not just food on the shelves at Plenty, with a selection of naturally-made hygiene products including organic, paraben-free soaps and fluoride-free toothpaste, as well as eco-friendly cleaning products and refills.
