Bristol to get first restaurant in containers

By Martin Booth  Thursday Aug 4, 2016

A new restaurant located in two converted shipping containers with space for just 14 diners is due to open in Bristol by the end of the year.

Box-E Bristol, promising a refined modern British menu using seasonal and local ingredients, will be located in the Cargo collection of containers within Wapping Wharf.

Head chef and owner is Elliott Lidstone, former chef at The Empress in east London, with his wife Tessa working in the restaurant at front of house.

“My wife and I have always joked about opening our own restaurant, but then we saw a few sites in Bristol that made us consider it as a reality,” Lidstone told The Caterer.

“We have a young family and my wife’s from Bristol so it’s a natural move for us and the food scene is really exploding there so it’s exciting to be part of that.”

Bristol Cider Shop are the only other retailer confirmed so far for Cargo.

Within Wapping Wharf, Wild Beer bar is due to open at the end of this week, with the much-anticipated first permanent home of Bertha’s Pizza and Small Street Espresso’s younger sister Little Victories cafe also both opening their doors in August.

There are also rumours that there could be a restaurant opening from Bristol-based Masterchef finalist Larkin Cen.
