Engineering group eyes £100m milestone

By Milan Perera  Monday Aug 18, 2025

A Bristol-based engineering and manufacturing specialist has set ambitious trading targets as it nears its half-century legacy.

Avon Group, based in Bedminister, is aiming to break the £100m turnover ceiling for the first time, following 46 years of consistent growth driven by innovation and strategic acquisitions.

Founded in 1979 by Alan Rushin as Avon Gasket Manufacturing, producing gaskets, seals, joints and washers, the business was taken over by his sons, James and Mark, back in 1997, after which it expanded through acquisitions into a multi-site, multi-disciplinary group.

Still family-owned and led by Mark Rushin, the group now operates several autonomous UK manufacturing sites, serving customers globally.

The group operates across nine UK sites, including its Bristol headquarters

Avon Group is currently recognised as a world leader in aerosol gasket production and a UK market leader in automotive components and various industrial sealing, insulation and filtration products.

The group operates across nine UK sites, including its Bristol headquarters, South Wales, Wiltshire and the Midlands, currently employs over 550 staff to support its diverse manufacturing capabilities.

Group director Mark Rushin credits the company’s success to its selective acquisition strategy, investment in the latest equipment and a strong focus on internal funding and debt control.

“By sticking to our tried and trusted principles, we’re confident we’ll reach the £100m sales mark,” Rushin said.

Avon Group has invested more than £30m in the past decade, with a further £3m planned this year.

The company continues to expand internationally, with a growing presence in Asia, South America and North America, while strengthening operations in the UK.

The group owns the freeholds of its sites and maintains staff retention rates above 90 per cent, supported by ongoing investment in training and development.

Avon Group, based at South Liberty Lane, in Bedminster continues to make its mark in the sector.
