Barcan+Kirby welcomes four new trainee solicitors

By Milan Perera  Monday Nov 11, 2024

The Bristol-based law firm Barcan+Kirby has further strengthened its team with the appointment of four new trainee solicitors.

Abbie Priggis, Caleb Kay, Jack Agates, and Tegenn Holloway, all new to the firm, began their contracts in September 2024.

The selection process for these trainees included an assessment centre day, where aspiring solicitors learned more about Barcan+Kirby, met other trainees, and participated in various activities to determine their fit for the firm.

Caleb Kay and Tegenn Holloway join directly from university, starting their first seats in the Private Client departments at the Gloucester Road and Kingswood offices, respectively.

Over the next two years, the trainees will undertake four seats, gaining invaluable experience with the support of their mentors

Jack Agates, with prior pro-bono experience from his undergraduate studies at UWE Bristol focusing on Family, Employment, and Civil Claims, begins his first seat in the Family department in Kingswood.

Abbie Priggis, who participated in the Clive Stafford Smith internship focusing on death row cases in America, starts her first seat in the Civil Litigation department at Prince House.

Over the next two years, the trainees will undertake four seats, gaining invaluable experience with the support of their mentors. They will shadow senior staff members with various specialisms, enhancing their legal expertise and confidence while assisting with client matters.

Additionally, the trainees will benefit from Barcan+Kirby’s Trainee Development Workshops, which provide opportunities to share experiences, build relationships, gain firm-wide exposure, and showcase project management skills.

Bill Willcocks, managing partner at Barcan+Kirby, said: “It’s great to welcome our four new trainees; Abbie, Caleb, Jack, and Tegenn to the firm.

“We are looking forward to supporting them through their training and development and seeing them flourish throughout the next two years.”
