Third season for this series of monthly staged play readings showcasing Black British, Caribbean and African work from new writing to classics.

“A Missing Pieces season brings you plays that are already published, performed, a cultural legacy of great work from great writers including, Derek Walcott, Wole Soyinka, Mustapha Matura, Janice Okoh, Arinze Kene, Kwame Kwei-Armah, Somalia Seaton and Trevor Rhone.”

A New Year’s party and Leela, Claudette and Curly, three black female friends are hiding out in the coats cupboard away from the celebrations. When they spot Leela’s husband being unfaithful with another woman, this spells the end of the marriage and prompts a girlie holiday to Jamaica to recover.
However, Jamaica doesn’t turn out to be the escape they desire. Whatever you run away from, still finds you.
Talking in Tongues is about female friendship, racial and sexual politics, and the search for Black female identity.
