National Theatre Encore: Angels in America Part One – Millennium Approaches

Director
Marianne Elliott
Certificate
15
Running Time
225 mins

First bit of this new staging of Tony Kushner’s epic, multi-award winning, two-part eight hour play, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes. Set in mid-eighties, it captures perfectly the fear of the AIDS crisis against the conservative backdrop of Reagan’s America. The exceptional cast is headed by Nathan Lane and Spider-man himself – Andrew Garfield.

It’s directed by Olivier and Tony award winning director Marianne Elliott (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, War Horse). Part one, Millennium Approaches, is broadcast live on July 20 (with encore screenings to follow). Part two, Perestroika, follows on July 27.
