My Bristol Favourites: Raja Munuswamy

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Oct 4, 2023

Raja Munuswamy is the founder and managing director of Nutmeg, whose original restaurant in Clifton has recently been joined by a second Nutmeg on St Augustine’s Parade in the centre.

Raja, who is also the co-owner of Nadu on Stokes Croft and Kal Dosa on Cheltenham Road, was previously manager of the restaurant at Tortworth Court in Wotton-under-Edge and Zaza Bazaar on the harbourside.

These are Raja’s top-five Bristol favourites:

“I love going on lovely woodland walks in Ashton Court with my dog, Pluto.”

Mayflower

Mayflower between the Bearpit and the bus station a late-night staple for the hospitality industry. You can almost guarantee seeing a couple of chefs or bar staff getting a late-night feed after their shifts. The food here is great!”

The Canteen

“I love live music and the chill vibe of the Canteen is the best way to spend time in the heart of the cultural hub of Stokes Croft.”

Knife & Fork Cafe

Knife & Fork Cafe on Bedminster Road in Bedminster serves authentic Sri Lankan food in the evenings. It never misses!”

Bianchis

Bianchis is one of my all-time favourite places to eat. It’s refined Italian food served by a great team and in such a lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere.”
