Del Brown is a property investor, mentor and author. Del, of Property Options, owns more than 100 properties in Bristol, worth millions of pounds. He grew up in Horfield and began his career working on market stalls, becoming an electrician and then a carpenter before buying, renovating and selling his first house for a profit in 1992.
Here are Del’s top-five Bristol favourites.
Let’s Sk8
“One of my favourite things about Bristol at the moment is the roller disco event Let’s Sk8. Roller skating is not only fun, but it appeals to individuals of all ages, sexes and lifestyles. It’s also is a great family activity. This tied in with the disco music is a recipe for lots of fun, and it’s also an extremely good means of exercise. I know quite a few people who attend regularly and they all really enjoy it. A friend of mine even recently had a birthday party there. Also, someone recently told me they’ve quit the gym and are just attending the roller discos instead as they find it both fun and rewarding! I always encourage everyone to go.”
Bottelino’s
“My favourite place to eat in Bristol is Bottelino’s in Clifton. I’ve been going to Bottelino’s regularly for years and I love it. If I’m ever hungry it’s the first place that springs to my mind. My preferred things to order are the pizza or the pasta dishes, which sort of figures seeing as it’s an Italian restaurant. Anyway, I’d highly recommend here.”
The architecture
“I love the architecture in this city. The historic buildings that surround us are a constant inspiration to me and were one of my early motivations to start investing in property. King Street has some fantastic architecture, Clifton Suspension Bridge is outstanding, but my favourite building in Bristol has to be St Mary Redcliffe church.”
The people
“How could I forget the people? The people that live in Bristol are great and are what make this city such a vibrant, fun, and all round fantastic place to live. The community spirit never ceases to astound me; everyone is just so friendly. The people of Bristol are a joy to live with and a pleasure to do business with. I love helping them out.”
Cabot Circus
“I really enjoy going shopping in Cabot Circus. They’ve got a really good range of shops and I always find something I like. It’s been amazing to see the place grow over the years. I’ve seen it refurbished and developed into the impressive complex that it is today. It’s testament to the growth of Bristol.”
