Preview: Grillstock Festival

By Martin Booth  Monday Sep 8, 2014

Grillstock returns to the Lloyds Amphitheatre this weekend with meat, meat and more meat and a bit of music for good measure too alongside a whole host of other fun.

Main stage, sponsored by Nokia Mix Radio

Feature some of the very best in rockabilly, Cajun, bluegrass, country and other foot stompin’ rhythms of the American south, alongside headliners Fun Lovin’ Criminals and Hayseed Dixie.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

King of the Grill

Teams from across the world will light the coals smoking huge joints of meat. The Grand Champion will win £1,000 and qualify to compete against the best of the best in the USA.

Brooklyn Bars

Brooklyn Brewery are manning the pumps delivering fine craft beers made especially for Grillstock. A new bar constructed from marble will have tanker loads of Brooklyn lager on tap.

Chill eating competition

The Clifton Chilli Club-curated competition starts out mild before quickly climbing the Scovil scale to the hottest chillis on the planet. It’s not for the faint-hearted and a splendid spectator sport.

Hot wing eating competition

Franks Red Hot return to Grillstock with buckets full of wings. With a place in the national final up for grabs, it’s all you can eat in five minutes with any table manners left at home.

Hot dog eating competition

This is the first year of this particular competition. Chow down on as many hot dogs as you can, once again with a strict time limit of only five minutes. Come hungry.

More entertainment

Amidst all the bands, barbecues and exhibitors, there will be everything from a children’s treasure hunt and craft workshops to the street performers and cooking demonstrations.
