Man stabbed in Old Market

By Ellie Pipe  Friday Nov 3, 2017

A man has been left with “potentially life-changing arm injuries” after a stabbing in Old Market in the early hours of Friday morning (November 3).

Police have cordoned off the scene in Redcross Street, where blood was seen spattered across the pavement and a guitar was left behind, propped up outside the kebab shop.

It is believed the 52-year-old victim may have been homeless and he has been taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment.

Police were called at about 2.48am on Friday by CCTV operators, who saw a man with a large knife in Old Market.

Officers have arrested a 24-year-old man.

A police spokesman said: “We were alerted by CCTV operators to an incident in which a man was seen with a large knife in the Old Market area of Bristol.

“Officers quickly attended and a 24-year-old man was arrested.

“A 52-year-old man was then located in nearby Redcross Street with potentially life-changing arm injuries. He was given first aid by officers before being taken to Southmead Hospital for treatment.

“An investigation into this incident is under way.

“If you saw anything which could help our inquiry, please call investigations on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5217251189.”
