Council confirms plans to replace climbing frame in park
Bristol City Council have confirmed that a climbing frame that was removed from a city park on Thursday morning will soon be replaced.
The climbing frame, which was removed from Bellevue Road Park in Easton, was deemed to be unfit for safe usage amid increased corrosion of its supporting structure.
In a statement to Bristol24/7 on Monday, chair of the public health and communities committee, councillor Stephen Wiliams, assured that the council had plans to “purchase and arrange a reinstallation” of the climbing frame imminently.
Williams said: “The climbing frame in Bellevue Road play park has been removed due to health and safety concerns. Corrosion on the supporting structure could no longer be managed through minor repairs.
“We are working at pace to replace the climber and will begin the process to purchase and arrange installation of a replacement as soon as the relevant approvals are in place.”
A petition launched by residents to help reinstall the climbing frame, which said the council had “no plan or funding to replace” the climbing frame, has surpassed 800 signatures in only five days.
