Bristol Zoo’s gorillas arrive in new home
Eight gorillas have been relocated to a new enclosure following the closure of Bristol Zoo Gardens.
Bristol Zoo Gardens closed to the public in 2022, and animals from the Clifton site have been moved in stages to the sister site, Bristol Zoo Project, since.
However, tbe zoo’s colony of gorillas remained at the closed site long after the closure.

On Thursday, Bristol Zoo Project announced that the gorillas have finally moved to their new home in the project’s African Forest enclosure.
The new space is said to be four and a half times larger in size than their former home in Clifton.
“Visitors won’t be able to see them for a while, as our amazing team closely monitor their welfare,” wrote the team on their social media.
They say that full details of the move, and more updates about the gorillas, can be expected soon.
