Armed police descend on street

Armed police in unmarked cars descended on a street in Bristol city centre on Saturday afternoon.

A white BMW X5 pulled up on the pavement outside the Salvation Army’s Logos House on Wade Street in St Jude’s, with several other police cars parked nearby.

One man has so far been arrested.

An Avon & Somerset Constabulary spokesperson said: “At 12.47pm we received a report of an altercation involving two men in Wade Street.

“No serious injuries were reported, but officers attended and arrested a man on suspicion of affray.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident should call 101 using the reference number 5226070939.”
