Bristol Charity Advent Calendar 2025, day 17: Community of Purpose
Founded by a brother and sister duo in 2016, Community of Purpose works towards transforming the lives and futures of young people in Bristol and beyond.
Born into a family who have been foster carers for over four decades, Amy and Joe Kington quickly realised that “not everyone is afforded the best start in life”.
Through collaborative working with Bristol-based businesses, the charity creates transformative opportunities that can have a positive impact on the lives of young people.

The charity’s ‘Break Free’ project offers opportunities for young people to participate in a range of social “enrichment” activities
Some of the charity’s most notable projects are: Bristol Young Heroes Awards, Bristol Together Championships, Break Free and Bristol Achieve.
Each of the charity’s projects is supported by a team of caring people from Bristol who enjoy supporting young people.
In 2024, the charity helped over 1,500 people engage in meaningful opportunities and supported more than 200 families.
Talking about their campaign to tackle holiday hunger, Amy said: “Alone, we’ve been able to support a few. Together, thanks to Bristolians’ support, we can support an entire community.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity that has turned this campaign into a movement of hope. The challenge of tackling holiday hunger in Bristol is real and affects a huge number of families across the city.
“After delivering support over Christmas, the work to continue this support is already underway.”
