Martial arts shop to close after over two decades
A shop that’s been selling martial arts equipment for over two decades will soon be closing its doors permanently.
Enso Martial Arts moved from its original shop in Staple Hill to Cheltenham Road in 2004. Through its decades of trading, the shop has strived to be a welcoming abode for everyone to shop and get inspired through their martial arts journey.
But in a video shared on Instagram, Connor Lucas from the shop’s management team announced its closure, saying they had “done everything possible” to try and stay open.

Lucas added: “It’s a rather unfortunate video I’ve got to make, but Enso is shutting down. We’re closing after 23 years.
“We’ve done everything we possibly think we can do to stay open, but unfortunately, we’re just not able to.”
A closing down sale is currently underway, with everything in the shop and on the website available for 70 per cent less. Those ordering on the website can use the code GOODBYE to claim the discount.
The shop owned by Doug Swift has been a haven for anyone seeking advice or quality equipment in the city, with many regulars expressing disappointment at the news of the closure.
A Leeds-based academy, Blade Martial Arts, commented: “All my best to you and the team on your next venture. Your store was amazing, it will be truly missed by so many.”
Many others shared there disappointment on the growing number of small businesses in the UK being pushed to the brink of closure, with one user adding that the hardships were “on a different level”.
The shop was also called a “go-to” by many for their martial arts needs, with some also referring to it as Bristol’s “best” martial arts shop.
While it has been said they are closing soon, a date for closure has not yet been announced.
