Bristol’s craziest crazy golf course closes
A crazy golf course that came to life over the pandemic has been forced to close.
Filwood Crazy Golf at Filwood Community Centre cost just £1 to play and featured holes based on ideas and homemade creations that Knowle West residents had during lockdown.
But the outdoor and lovingly ramshackle experience was mostly built from wood and has sadly become unsafe to play.
is needed now More than ever
Organisers who opened the attraction in 2021 do say that they hope to make a more permanent course in the future.
The builds that make up the current nine-hole course will also be reused where possible.
In a statement, Filwood Crazy Golf said: “We are sad to announce the closure of our much loved crazy golf.
“It served us many years but in the end it succumbed to the weather so for health and safety we have had to close. We will reuse what we can where we can though so don’t worry.
“Thank you so much to everyone who helped to make it happen, from brilliant ideas during lockdown over Zoom from the Filwood Fantastic Mini Golf Club, to those that put it together and decorated it.
“Special thanks to @reworkkw for realising the vision and dreams of the community and turning it into an epic crazy golf course! It truly was something special.
“Please share your memories and photos of the golf with us we hope we can make something more permanent in the future for you all to enjoy again. Much love, Filwood Crazy Golf.”
