Wine bar expands to create new bottle shop and event space

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Dec 2, 2025

A wine bar located where St Paul’s meets Stokes Croft has expanded into a neighbouring unit to create a bottle shop, and a private dining and events space.

The expansion of Carmen Street Wine means more wines for sale and a new menu of seasonal small plates.

The new space on Ashley Road also offers 30 more covers for the sister business of Caper & Cure.

Seasonal small plates from head chef Matty Grove accompany a wine list put together by sommelier Holly Purnell-Swan featuring predominantly low-intervention European bottles.

Carmen Street Wine and Caper & Cure founder, Giles Coram, said he wants to “ensure guests continue to feel warmly welcomed while discovering the wines we carefully seek out”.

Wines are now directly imported from wineries including Alto de Pioz near Madrid and Les Gragnotes near Perpignan, with Coram’s sights set on northern Italy for his next direct import partnership.
