Punk rock and coffee collaborations for Bristol brewery

By Martin Booth  Monday Aug 20, 2018

Brewers often collaborate with each other to make one-off beers, but one Bristol brewery is working with some extra special guests for three unique brews.

Wiper & True are joining forces with hotly-tipped Bristol punk band Idles, Oscar award-winning animation studio Aardman and fellow St Werburgh’s business Extract for a trio of beers.

To mark Bristol Beer Week, Wiper & True will release Joy as an Act of Resistance, a violet and blackcurrant IPA brewed with members of Idles, who release their album of the same name on August 31.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Also released will be Unkle Funka, a light pale ale infused with coffee brewed in collaboration with Extract Coffee Roasters.

The launch event of Bristol Beer Week on September 8 will be Bristol Breweries Open Doors Day, which at Wiper & True will see the beers available for the first time as well as live painting from the Paintsmiths, music from Noods Radio and food from Plumed Serpent.

Wiper & True founder Michael Wiper said: “We’ve always enjoyed the sense of collaboration that surrounds Bristol Beer Week but this year we wanted to take it beyond other breweries to try and showcase the incredible creativity, community and collaboration that exists across different industries within our unique city.”
