New name for decade-old restaurant
A bar and restaurant that’s been serving Bristol for more than a decade now has a new name.
Brace and Browns opened on Whiteladies Road in 2011 and have since served what they claim to be “Bristol’s original bottomless brunch”, cocktails, Sunday roasts and more.
But with the venue and audience changing in recent years, owner David Brown was “sort of wanting exit”.
It was when former head chef Maicon Oliviere said he was keen on starting something for himself that the idea of a revamped version of Brace and Browns was born.
The independent restaurant and bar located at 43 Whiteladies Road is now called Terrace at 43, with the team hoping to have a terrace open throughout the year by autumn in 2025.
With a dark shade of green now taking centre stage in their branding, the team have installed new signage that welcomes visitors to experience what they call “a new chapter”.

Talking about the new beginning, David told Bristol24/7: “What people would have thought of Brace and Browns last year is evenings, only weekend trade. But we’re now open seven days a week for breakfast and brunch too.”
Terrace at 43 continues to serve some specialities from their former iteration, like sourdough bowls, brunch buns and homemade hash browns, alongside some new additions.
The team behind Brace and Browns opened a sister restaurant called Harbour and Browns in Wapping Wharf, which shut down operations sometime after January 2023.
