Hotwells pub could be turned into flats

By Martin Booth  Friday Apr 26, 2019

A Grade II-listed pub in Hotwells could be transformed into four flats.

The Adam & Eve has been empty for several years. It was most recently taken on from the team behind Small Bar and Left Handed Giant in 2015.

But the last pint has probably been poured in the pub on Hope Chapel Hill, with developers looking to create four self-contained flats.

Two duplex apartments are planned to be built within the pub’s existing basement.

The hanging pub sign is due to be retained if the building is turned into flats, as well as the chimneys.

Objecting to the plans, Lisbeth Jensen of North Green Street said: “To us, it looks like yet another attempt to cram too many people into a too small area just to make a profit.”

The team behind Small Bar took over the Adam & Eve in November 2015 but their tenure lasted just 11 weeks

The Small Bar team were forced to close the pub due to large repair and refurbishment costs
