Historic pub brought back to life

By Martin Booth  Thursday Nov 24, 2022

The only Bristol pub recognised as having national importance on CAMRA’s Heritage Listed Interiors list has reopened for the first time since the pandemic.

The new custodians of the Kings Head on Victoria Street are Good Chemistry brewery, who promise to create “a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere”.

Good Chemistry’s cask-only Extra Special Bitter is currently one of the beers on tap, with the Good Chemistry team serving both cask and keg beer from local and national breweries as well as spirits, wines and non-alcoholic drinks.

“Pubs provide a meeting point for communities, where people from different age groups and backgrounds can enjoy a shared space,” say Good Chemistry co-founders Kelly Sidgwick and Bob Cary.

“At a time when many people have never felt more isolated, and haven’t been able to socialise in the way they were used to, we want the revitalised Kings Head to offer that space once again.

“We can’t wait to bring beers from some of our favourite breweries to the cosy surroundings of this wonderful pub.”

Kelly and Bob added: “Like so many valued and sometimes under-appreciated pubs, the Kings Head has been a place for Bristol people to get together for hundreds of years & we are so pleased to carry on that tradition!

“After a lot of hard work to bring the Kings Head back to life, we are now open! We very much hope to see you soon!”
