Dareshack announce closure of cafe

By Martin Booth  Tuesday May 6, 2025

When it opened in June 2024, Dareshack on Christmas Steps was described as a “coffee house concept” by co-owner Adda Cohn.

But less than a year later, the cafe is closing as the team at Dareshack look to focus their energies on their original site on Wine Street.

The short-lived cafe opposite 20th Century Flicks was located in a former Chinese restaurant which has one of the smallest gardens in Bristol.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

In a statement on Instagram, the Dareshack team said: “It brings us great sadness to inform you that we’ve come to the decision to permanently close our Christmas Steps location.

“Although this decision wasn’t made lightly, we all feel that it’s one that will benefit Dareshack in the long run.

“Over the last few months, as a team, we have come up with lots of really fun and exciting ideas, and now with the closure of DS2, we can put our full focus into making these ideas into a reality.

“We just wanna thank everyone who has supported that location over the last year, the support really meant a lot to us.

“Although we are sad to see it go, we’re looking to the future to see what other endeavours we as a shop can venture toward! Watch this space!”
