Is this Bristol’s most secluded cafe?
Once upon a time in this corner of Bristol, there was a one-eyed seal called Pebble, a three-legged Scottish wildcat and a raven that used to shout “fuck off!” at old ladies.
There was also a deer called Sannox that if the stories are true would occasionally escape from Westbury Wildlife Park and head towards Westbury-on-Trym where it liked to attack its own reflection in shop windows.
The birds and animals have long since departed the site which now has a variety of activities ranging from a sauna and cold plunge pool to pottery, art and yoga; with a cafe now also open for business.

The team at Embers claim to have the best cafe garden in Bristol in the heart of the former animal sanctuary that is now a 13-acre woodland.
“This isn’t just a cafe; it’s a full day out in nature,” say the Embers team.
The cafe close to Fire & Ice Wellness is open from Friday to Sunday between 10am and 4pm, serving coffee from Extract of St Werburgh’s as well as ice cream and a selection of cakes.
The Embers team add: “Banging coffee, tasty treats, and plenty of space to slow down and stay for a while.”
