Brewery looking for new owners as founders bid goodbye after a decade
A Bristol brewery is looking for new owners, with its founders deciding to depart after a decade of brewing beers and building communities.
Kelly Sidgwick and Bob Cary co-founded the Good Chemistry brewery and taproom in 2015 in St Philip’s and have since become a firm favourite for the city’s thirsty punters.
While the duo will be receding from their responsibilities as founders, they are looking for prospective new owners who will hopefully continue running their business from its current site on William Street.

Kelly, who also started the She Drinks Beer socials night for women interested in beer, sees the change as imperative for herself and Bob to explore new avenues.
She said: “We have committed a decade to building up this business from scratch to something we are immensely proud of.
“But we have also got to the point in our lives where we want to make some changes, have a break, and try something new.
“We would love to see brewing continue on William Street, and we’re currently talking to interested parties.”
Over the years, the duo have expanded and taken up management of two of Bristol’s best-known pubs, including the Kings Head on Victoria Street and The Good Measure in Redland.
The brewery is also an integral part of the East Bristol Brewery Trail, the latest edition of which took place in August.
“Bristol has always backed Bristol”, said Bob, highlighting the city’s integral support to the independent brewery.
He continued: “We’re proud to have built our business here.
“We’re deeply grateful for the support we’ve received over the past 10 years.”
Additionally, Kelly and Bob have assured that both of their pubs will function normally.
If anyone is interested in exploring the opportunity to take on the brewery site, they are encouraged to get in touch with the team via the Good Chemistry website.
