Five independent breweries join forces to tackle homelessness
Five of Bristol’s leading independent breweries have joined forces to support people experiencing homelessness this winter.
Usually operating in friendly competition, the breweries have come together for a cause that goes beyond trade margins.
They have collectively pledged £2,000 to Caring in Bristol’s Christmas Appeal, helping to provide hot meals, refreshments and essential services during one of the toughest times of the year.
Arbor Ales, Bristol Beer Factory, Left Handed Giant, Lost and Grounded and Good Chemistry (recently taken over by the team at World Famous Dive Bars) have united behind the charity’s long-running festive project.

Caring at Christmas has run for 35 years, stepping in when temperatures drop and many services close. Last year, it supported more than 500 guests, serving over 1,400 meals and offering clothing, advice and a place to connect.
While breweries often support local causes with beer donations, this appeal called for something different — prompting a shared financial contribution to help make the season safer and more welcoming for those in need.
Casey Cox, corporate and community partnership co-ordinator at Caring in Bristol, said: “We are so grateful for the support of Bristol’s independent breweries.
“Their kindness will help make this Christmas safer and kinder for people experiencing homelessness in our city. Our work isn’t possible without local businesses, and this is a brilliant example of how they can come together to make a real difference.”
Caring in Bristol, based at St Paul’s, works year-round to prevent homelessness through early intervention and community-based projects.
