Review: Wicked, Bristol Hippodrome – ‘A magical night out’
After flying from the Emerald City to Broadway, Wicked has now returned to Bristol as part of a national tour.
It is a magical night out at the Hippodrome as we follow the origin stories of Elphaba and Glinda, aka the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North.
Interspersed between some rip-roaring songs, we also delve more behind the curtain of Oz and are introduced to some more familiar faces along the way.
is needed now More than ever
Wicked is one of the most successful musicals of recent years and there will undoubtedly be a standing ovation from the Bristol audience night after night.
This touring production is at the Hippodrome for more than a month, five years after it was last in town, with Elphaba played by Laura Pick and Glinda by Sarah O’Connor.
Pick is particularly mesmerising while O’Connor has impeccable comic timing in a production which is laugh-out-loud funny but also raises some thought-provoking issues.
Pack your pointy hat and glass slippers and take a journey to the Emerald City.
Wicked is at Bristol Hippodrome until February 25. For tickets and more information, visit www.atgtickets.com/shows/wicked/bristol-hippodrome
