Massive Attack honoured by PETA for serving vegan meals at gigs
PETA have awarded Massive Attack their Hit the Right Beat for Animals & the Planet award.
It comes after the band championed vegan meals at their eco-conscious gigs at Co-Op Live in Manchester in June following their decision to keep meat, eggs and dairy off the menu at their trailblazing Act 1.5 event on the Downs in 2024.
It has been estimated that food-related emissions were cut by 89 per cent compared to a typical music festival.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Foundation, better known as PETA, is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals.
PETA vice president of programmes, Elisa Allen, said: “By championing plant-powered meals, Massive Attack is pushing its legions of fans, other artists and even entire stadiums to face the music that the meat, egg and dairy industries are decimating the environment.
“PETA is delighted to recognise Massive Attack for showing everyone that being an angel for animals and the planet is as easy as choosing delicious vegan fare.”
