Forget tees, Lucy Rose is peddling chocolate
You’ve had a busy couple of years, what moments have stuck in your mind?
Wow, there are so many, Glastonbury last summer, driving 13,000 miles on a US/Canadian tour in 8 weeks, touring with great bands, singing with Bombay Bicycle Club at Earls Court, meeting so many good people along the way.
How did the Manics collaboration come about and were you pleased with the result?
is needed now More than ever
We are on the same label and they were really supportive when my record came out. They asked me to sing on a song and I was on the road at the time but we were playing a gig in Cardiff so popped in on the morning before the show and recorded it. It was completely surreal and a massive privilege.
You share your surname with Dolly Parton, what do you think of Dolly and her music?
I think she’s incredible and a massive idol for many female singer songwriters out there as she was one of the first women to write and sing her own music. She blew my mind at Glastonbury, how is she that good at saxophone?
How important has radio been for you?
The support from BBC6music and Radio one has been massive for me and really given me confidence. It’s amazing how important that support is and will always feel so grateful that they play my music.
Tell us about the teas and preserves you’ve sold on tour along with traditional merch?
I still have the tea, the jam has taken a backseat as so many of the jars kept smashing in the van but now I have chocolate which is absolutely delicious and my best mate Phil Landers has made them all from scratch, bean to bar. Very cool!
If you could join any band in the world, what one would it be and why?
Warpaint because they are the absolute coolest and fantastic musicians.
What’s your favourite lyric from ‘Our Eyes’?
We’re too close to be out of touch.
Who do you think has got the most beautiful eyes?
My little puppy Josie.
