Ishmael Ensemble announce collaboration with Dubkasm

By Issy Packer  Friday Sep 15, 2023

Ishmael Ensemble have announced a new remix of the acclaimed EP, New Era.

Previously partnering up with Rider Shafique on the 2023 EP, producer and saxophonist Pete Cunningham said of the collaboration: “Rider is often associated as an MC with drum and bass and dubstep but his vocal ability far exceeds being pigeon holed, I think we both learnt a lot about our own potentials working on this EP as it was a step into new territory for us both.”

The collective have now collaborated with Bristol duo Dubkasm who have remixed the body of work in the classic dub-style.

Bristol’s finest DJ Stryda & Digistep, aka Dubkasm, reworked and authentically dubbed the original recordings and warped them into a sound-system ready collection of heavy hitting, deep sonic explorations.

The first single, New Era (Vocal Mix), is due to be released on October 13.

This will be followed by a special, one-off event at Strange Brew which will see members of Ishmael Ensemble perform alongside Rider Shafique and Dubkasm on October 26.
