Goldie and friends commemorate DJ Randall
Randall McNeil, otherwise known as DJ Randall, was a widely beloved jungle and drum and bass DJ.
Although he grew up in London, he moved to Bristol as a young adult in the early 2000s and quickly became a memorable addition to the scene here.
Many knew him as the “godfather of breakbeat” due to his unique style of spinning breakbeat hardcore.
One writer has described him as “your favourite DJ’s favourite DJ’s favourite DJ’s favourite DJ“.
DJ Randall died, of undisclosed causes, in Bristol on July 31 2024. He was 54.

Friends and loved ones of DJ Randall gathered together to celebrate him on Saturday, just over a year after his passing
Just over a year after his passing, graffiti artist and fellow musician Goldie, and other friends and loved ones of DJ Randall, gathered by the Brunel Way underpass to paint a mural in the late DJ’s honour.
At the time of his passing, DJ Randall and Goldie had been friends and collaborators for over 30 years.
The group started work on the mural at around 6am on Saturday and are expected to pause work on it a few hours before Goldie is due to appear at the Love Inn on Stokes Croft for a three-hour set.
The mural is set to be complete by Sunday.

Goldie was awarded an MBE in 2016 for services to music and young people
Goldie said the mural was a way for DJ Randall’s loved ones to “give him his flowers and celebrate his life”.
The mural shows DJ Randall smiling, surrounded by red roses as well as orange and yellow flowers.
