Colston Hall to celebrate 150th birthday in style
The Colston Hall is celebrating its 150th birthday this year with a series of special events.
Kicking off proceedings on February 7 will be a screening of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Oscar-winning film There Will Be Blood, accompanied by the London Contemporary Orchestra performing Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead’s original score.
Over three nights in April and May, the Colston Hall will host the UK premiere of Monteverdi 450, a performance celebrating the Italian composer’s 450th birthday.

Other performances will feature legendary folk singer Shirley Collins making a comeback on Februay 11 with a new album after 38 years out of the studio, hip-hop turntablist DJ Yoda on May 13 and a screening of cult film Under the Skin with a live score by Mica Levi on April 14.
The programme also includes HEXA: David Lynch’s Factory Photographs on February 16 and Amp Fiddler on March 4.
The birthday month of September will see some extra special events due to be announced in the spring.
These will be some of the last performances of the year at the Colston Hall before temporary closure in 2018 due to £45m redevelopment works.
